Appearance of Hanuman ji ![]() When Rama appeared in Treta-Yuga, then various gods appeared as monkeys to serve Shri Rama. That time, out of love to serve Shri Rama, Lord Shiva himself appeared as Hanuman from the womb of devi Anjana.
ūrjē kṛṣṇa caturdaśyāṃ bhaumēsvātyāṃ kapīśvaraḥ ।
mēṣa lagnē aṃjanā garbhāt prādurbhūtaḥ svayaṃ śivaḥ॥ (vāyu purāṇa)
Translation: "On the fourteenth day of Kartik Krishna-Paksha, in swati-mesh lagna, Tuesday, Lord Shiva himself appeared from the womb of Mother Anjani in the form of Shri Hanumanji."
Divine Birth of Hanuman Valmiki Ramayana says the wind god transferred some divine splendor in the womb of most chaste devi Anjana avowed to her husband alone with ek-patni-vratam (devoted and adhered to her husband Keshari). And then devi Anjana gave birth to Hanuman ji in a cave, but not delivered manually through routine labour, in stead it was a very well-divined birth (perhaps Hanuman ji manifested himself in front of Devi Anjana at the time of his birth). Jambvan narrates the divine birth and great powers of Hanuman in order to excite Hanuman Ji to get the work of Shri Rama done.
[Valmiki Ramayana 4.66.20]
Translation: "Oh, Maha-Kapi (great monkey) Hanuman, oh ambidextrous one, oh bullish fly-jumpers, your mother Anjana very well divined you in a cave."
Since Anjana was devoted wife of Vanar-Raja Keshari, so Hanuman is called Kshetraja son of Keshari, and by virtue of being the divines-splendour of Vayu (or the divine splendor transferred by Vayu into womb of Anjana), he is called "Aurasa" son of the wind-god, Vayu.
[Valmiki Ramayana 4.66.29-30]
Translation:Jambvan said "Oh Hanuman, you are Kesari's son through his wife, oh, frightful pugilist, and you are the "Auras मारुतस्य औरसः पुत्रः " (lineal) son of the air-god, and even by your gusting you are selfsame to air-god, and even by your flying also you are his selfsame to Air-god, in all respects..."
(Again Shri Rama and Sita both poured their divine love on Hanuman in Vatsalya-Rasa, Bhagavati Sita addressed Hanuman as her son everywhere, so Hanuman ji also son of Shri Rama and Sita. Thus Hanuman ji is the son of the wind-god as well as of Anjana-Keshari, and Sita-Rama. ) Naming 'Hanuman' 'Hanu' means 'wisdom' in Sanskrit and Thus 'Hanumaan' literally means the one who possesses the absolute wisdom. When Hanuman ji was just a little boy, he saw just risen sun in the vast of forest, and deeming it to be a just ripen reddish fruit, and therefore to catch it, Hanuman flew towards sun in the sky. When Indra saw Hanuman reached very near to the sun, in his anger he hurled his thunderbolt on child Hanuman which hit on his left cheekbone, and due to sudden hit, Hanuman ji couldn't balance him and he fell down on a mountain , and his cheeckbone ("Hanu" in sanskrit) swelled. Seeing such fierce attack on his little infuriated the wind-god, he stopped the life-saving air in all the worlds. When whole world started feeling breathlessness instantly, then brahmA downward all the administrative gods of universe including Indra appeared in front of wind-god near Hanuman Ji to supplicate the wind-god for his grace, Gods also praised Hanuman's bravery of reaching near the sun, and being unhurt even after hit by Thunderbolt of Indra. As only his cheekbone was hurt, so gods named that little boy of wind-god as "Hanuman".. and brahmA and other gods gave Hanuman choicest boons of indestructibility by any missile, being endowed with great valliance, strength, etc. Shri Hanuman, the Param-Bhagavat (the greatest devotee) ![]() While 12 best devotees of Shri Bhagavan is called Maha-Bhagavat (great Bhagavata devotees) in Shrimad-Bhagavatam, However Shri Hanuman Ji is called the bestest among all devotees known as Param-Bhagavata (supreme among all Bhagavata devotees). And such Param-Bhagavata is exclusiverly devoted to Shri Rama alone. Hanuman Ji has completely surrendered himself in the lotus feet of Lord Rama.

Śrīla Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: My dear King, in Kimpuruṣa-varṣa, Param-Bhagavata (the greatest among all Bhagavata-devotees) Hanumān Ji is always engaged with the inhabitants of that land in devotional service to ādi-puruṣaṁ (primeval-purusha of Vedas) , lakṣmaṇāgrajaṁ - the elder brother of Lakṣmaṇa and sītābhirāmaṁ - the dear husband of Sītādevī, Lord Rāma.

That chanting and singing is always the most auspicious, extremely pleasant to ears. Hanumānjī and Arṣṭiṣeṇa, the chief person in Kimpuruṣa-varṣa, constantly hear those glories with complete attention. Hanumān Ji also chants and sings the glory of Rāma in best shlokas and mantras."
Hanuman's unparalleled devotion in the lotus feet of Shri Rama : This beautiful summarizes the unparalleled and exlcusive devotion of Hanuman ji in the lotus feet of Shri Rama: ![]()
śrīnāthē jānakīnāthē abhēdaḥ paramātmani ।

“Even though there is no difference between the Lord of Lakshmi i.e. Lord Narayana, and the Lord of Janaki Sita, Sri Rama, both are same Supreme Personality in essence, neverthless the lotus-eyed Lord Sri Rama is my everything!”
When Shri Rama, after completing the purpose of Shri Ramavatar, was leaving the earth and going to his supreme abode Saketa, then Shri Hanuman ji asked this boon from Shri Rama:-
[Valmiki Ramyana 7.40.16-19] “O My Lord Raghuveer! May my supreme affection remain in You alone forever! O King! May my devotion be constant to You, O valiant prince! Let not my love be diverted to anyone else! (Here Hanuman Ji prays, please bestow this boon that I would be always devoted to you alone, without any deviation for any other god). May life continue in my body without any doubt so long as Your story remains current on this earth, O Heroic Sri Rama! [VR 7.40.16-17] Let the celestial nymphs, O Rama, recount to me, O jewel among the human beings, Your divine life exploits, Your story, O delight of the Raghus! [VR 7.40.18] Imbibing with my ears the nectar in the form of Your life story, My heroic Lord, I shall thereby be able to allay my longing for Your sight, even as the wind disperses a line of clouds!!” [VR 7.40.19]Hanuman, the servant of Shri Rama Lord Hanuman Ji is servant of Lord Rama. In his own words, Hanuman Ji says:
दासोsहं कोशलेन्द्रस्य रामस्याक्लिष्टकर्मणः। (वाल्मीकि रामायण ५.४२.३४)
dāsōshaṃ kōśalēndrasya rāmasyākliṣṭakarmaṇaḥ। (vālmīki rāmāyaṇa 5.42.34)
I (Hanuman) am the servant of Rama, the king of Kosala Kingdom, who is unwearied in action.
दासोsहं I am subservient of the supreme personality - This is the original position and Swaroopa of all Jiva-s.
Hanuman, the best and the most beloved son of maa Sita
The goddess of fortune and charm, Sita Ji gave this boon to Hanuman - O' son! as long as the fame of Rama remain current in this world, so long you will live here. [Ramopakhyan, Vanparv, Mahabharata, 291.44 ]
O' Hanuman, by grace of mine You will always get the Divya-Bhog (divine foods) as long You will live here in this world.
[Ramopakhyan, Vanparv-Mahabharata, 291.45]
In Shri Ramcharitmanas too, Sita ji gives her amodha-ashisha (the divine infallible blessing) to Hanuman ji
Sita ji gave Hanuman Her blessing: "May you become a repository of strength and virtue, dear child. May you ever remain immune from old age and death and prove to be a storehouse of good qualities, my son; and may the Lord of the Raghus, Shri Rama, shower His abundant love and grace on you. (Shri Ramacharitmanas 5.17.2)
So after blessing of Sita Ji, Hanuman got great love of Rama and Shri Rama embraced Hanuman ji.
Since Hanuman Ji received Rama-Mantra directly from Bhagavati Sita, so he is direct disciple of Sita Ji, Therefore, Sita ji gives a lot of love to Hanuman ji. In fact, Hanuman is none but Charusheela Sakhi of Sita ji in divine Madhurya-abode, Saket-Loka, where Charusheela-Sakhi is Sarveshavari (supreme goddess), without her grace entry in Rasa-dance of Shri Rama is not possible. Lord Shiva became Hanuman to serve Rama... ![]()

jēhi sarīra rati rāma sōṃ sōi ādarahiṃ sujāna ।
rudra dēha taji nēhabasa bānara bhē hanumāna ॥ (dōhāvalī 142)
Translation: Good People keep affection in that body in which they can get the supreme love and affection for Shri Rama. This is the reason Great Lord Shiva disowned his Rudra-form and became Hanuman out of love for Rama (to get his closeness and serve him)!

jāni rāma sēvā sarasa samujhi karaba anumāna ।
puruṣā tē sēvaka bhaē hara tē bhē hanumāna ॥ (dōhāvalī 143)
Translation: Knowing that there is supreme pleasure in the service of Lord Sri Ram, even Purusha-s (i.e. all Vishnu-s of Vaikuntha, Ksheer-Sagar and Shwetdvipa) and Hara (i.e. Lord Shiva) didn't hesitate to become the servants in form of Lakshman-Bharat-Shatrughna, and Hanuman Ji respectively (to serve Shri Rama).
Hanuman, the great valiant one Even Lord Vishnu has not shown the feats similar to the feats shown by Hanuman ji in war. ![]()
(Valmiki Ramayana 7.35.8)
"Feats similar to those which were performed in war by Hanuman are not known to have been performed either by Kala (death-god) or by Indra or again even by Lord VishNu or VaruNa (the god of water)."
(**Vedas says Purusha is the most superior, he is the supreme absolute, none is beyond Purusha. Again, Veda-avatar Shri Valmiki here declares Hanuman Ji has shown more valor in wars than Shri Hari-Vishnu of triad gods, and same time it has already declared in Yuddha-Kanda that Shri Rama is second to none in his Paurusham (prowess and valor). This means Shri Rama-Rupa alone is the original Purusha of Vedas, because in Paurusham (prowess and valor) he is the most superior. Meghanad was more powerful than Ravan, and was becoming invincible for even Lakshman Ji. So finally, Lakshman ji addressed the following prayer in which he invoked the supreme truth to get Meghanad Killed:
धर्मात्मा सत्यसन्धश्च रामो दाशरथिर्यदि ॥
पौरुषे चाप्रतिद्वन्द्वस्तदेनं जहि रावणिम् । [Valmiki Ramayana 6.90.71b, 72A]
"O my dear arrow! If Shri Rama, the son of Dasaratha, is always righteous, keeps up his promise, and is second to none in his prowess (पौरुषे चाप्रतिद्वन्द्वः i.e. he is supreme Purusha of Vedas), then please destroy this Indrajit." )
Though being very much capable to kill Ravana, Hanuman Ji didn't kill Ravana, only because he wished Ravana should be killed by Shri Rama so that everyone in the cosmos should become aware of who is Shri Rama in reality, so that supreme glory of Lord Rama could pervade all spheres and remain current in all the worlds.
[Valmiki Ramayan 5-42-35]
Hanuman Ji declares "Even a thousand of Ravanas will not be matching equally with me, who is capable of striking with thousands of rocks and trees in battle."
Such Hanuman is declaring in front of all with all humility, he is mere a servant of truly great Rama! How is such Rama in his own words: Hanuman Ji telling Ravana the true identity of Shri Rama :
सत्यम् राक्षसराजेन्द्र शृणुष्व वचनम् मम ॥
रामदासस्य दूतस्य वानरस्य विशेषतः । [Valmiki Ramayana 5.51.38b,39a] "O king of demons, Ravana! Listen to my truthful words coming as it is from the lips of this servant of Rama, his messenger and particularly of this monkey."
[Valmiki Ramayana 5.51.39b, 40a] "Annihilating all the worlds including the elements, their created beings, as well as the entire mobile and immobile creation, the highly illustrious Sri Rama is capable of creating them over again in exactly the same way."
[Valmiki Ramayana 5.51.40-42] "Among Gods, demons and the rulers of men as well as among the Yakshas, ogres and serpents as well as among the Vidhyādharas (celestial artists), Nāgas, Gandharvas (celestial musicians) and beasts, Siddhas and the rulers of Kinnaras, nay, even among the birds, in all places, in short, among all created beings at all places and times there is no one who can fight against Rama, the equal of Vishnu in prowess (only Vishnu somehow can come close to prowess of Shri Rama)."
[Valmiki Ramayana 5.51.45] "Either Brahmā with four faces or Rudra with three eyes, Shiva, or Mahendra the God of atmosphere and sky and also the Lord of celestials, would not be able to protect the one to be killed by Shri Rama in battle."
Thus, Hanuman ji told all the worlds the real supreme glory of Bhagavan, none is equal to Shri Rama, such glory is rarely told for any other Lord in such explicit mannner.
Hanuman, an expert in communication ![]() Hearing the words and speech of Hanuman ji, Shri Rama was very much pleased and he praised Hanuman. Hanuman is an expert in communication, he is pleasant-worded one and with speech and voice full of friendliness. He has orderly refinement in speech that is remarkable and un-delaying, and he speaks propitious words that are heart-pleasing. His words and speech are very much pleasant to ears, completely perfect in line of the rules of grammar, and in accordance of vedas and political-science, not a single word of his transgreses grammar and scriptures. His speech is generated in three places is enthralling, even a sword-raising enemy will be enchanted on hearing his speech. Every words that he speaks can never be forgotten. Such a voice promotes general welfare and remains forever in the hearts and minds of generations to come.

Translation: Those learned people who know the five Agni-s (fire) and homa into it, they verily know this world in true essence (means they truly know the mystery behind transmigration, birth and death), and therefore they start doing penance for Param-Brahman in some secluded place in some forest (or on the bank of river)! [A grihast can do penance along with his wife like Manu-Shatrupa did in Naimisharanya.] In the end, they leave their material body and their soul travels through Arciṣamārga (Archisa Path), then they pass through supremely bright effulgence (Suryamandal) i.e. Brahm-Jyoti, then they achieve the supreme nectar, then they achieve the Vidyut (their Siddha-deha), then they meet a unique personality Humanoid in look, but not Human (indicative of Hanuman Ji, the servant of Bhagavan Shri Shri SitaRama), the Humanoid-god (Hanuman Ji) takes the person along with him to Para-Brahman (Shri Shri SitaRama). This Path is known as Devyaan-Marga [This whole journey of soul from Penance to meet with Shri Shri SitaRam is called Devyan Path in Upanishad].[Chhandogya-Upanishad 5.10.1-2]
